ALBUM REVIEW: Dumaresq – ‘The Resurrection Of A Thylacine’
Throughout these last few years, Australian artist Dumaresq has been one of the more adventurous and innovative names emerging in his homeland. Creating these broad and sprawling releases that look to add a more textured approach to the progressive post-rock sound, his tenure to date has been littered with warm and immersive offering that have always added something new to his ambitious catalogue to date. And with his previous outing ‘NO ALARMS IN OUR CURATED WORLDS’ building that dynamic legacy even further, he now delivers his rapturous new album ‘The Resurrection Of A Thylacine’, a record brimming with vibrant textures once again.
Written as a linear narrative concept album about a young scientist embroiled in the creation, then the liberation, of a resurrected Thylacine (named Lazarus), his newest collection delivers another powerful reminder of his euphoric energy over the years. Conjuring this wonderfully absorbing direction that builds to numerous crescendos as it plays, ‘The Resurrection Of A Thylacine’ heralds some of his most passionate material to date as he soars majestically across this wondrous twelve-track offering.
Although there has already been plenty of moments throughout his career that have captivated all those that hear it, ‘The Resurrection Of A Thylacine’ still manages to find and develop interesting ideas in which to keep the momentum moving ever forward. Mixing some heartfelt lyricism with truly anthemic production throughout, this is one release you’ll definitely want to revisit after an initial listen.
Dumaresq will release ‘The Resurrection Of A Thylacine’ on the 31st May.
