ALBUM REVIEW: Remy Lazz – ‘Movin’ On’
Earlier this year, US newcomer Remy Lazz released his breakthrough debut single ‘Whisper Your Secrets’. Blending a heady mix of driven alt-rock textures with some powerful lyricism introduced him as one of the more emotive names to have taken the stage so far in 2024. And with little to no time to spare, he has now returned once again to release his hotly-tipped debut album ‘Movin’ On’, a record that looks to cement his place on the scene right now.
Much like what the title of the LP suggests, ‘Movin’ On’ is a snapshot of the transitional stages in his life to date. Currently working through a divorce and living a sober life after years of addiction, these new songs act as a cathartic release of his most guttural emotions as he powers through this thunderous new offering. Still keeping the blistering pace of his initial offering the theme of this new full-length, he manages to create twelve wildly enjoyable cuts that showcase some of his most intimate songwriting from start to finish.
This album may have been birthed from some incredibly traumatic times in his life, but Remy Lazz is turning his pain into some brilliantly immersive delights. Expressive and impactful as often as possible, ‘Movin’ On’ is a true anthem of a release, brimming with some wonderfully infectious hooks from start to finish.
