Amy Winehouse Albums Ranked
Amy Jade Winehouse (14 September 1983 – 23 July 2011) was an English singer and songwriter known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Winehouse released her follow-up album, Back to Black, in 2006, which went on to become an international success and one of the best-selling albums in UK history. At the 2007 Brit Awards, it was nominated for British Album of the Year, and she received the award for British Female Solo Artist. The song “Rehab” won her a second Ivor Novello Award. At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, she won five awards, tying the then-record for the most wins by a female artist in a single night and becoming the first British woman to win five Grammys, including three of the General Field “Big Four” Grammy Awards: Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year (for “Rehab”), as well as Best Pop Vocal Album. Winehouse was plagued by drug and alcohol addiction. She died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, at the age of 27. After her death, Back to Black temporarily became the UK’s best-selling album of the 21st century. VH1 ranked Winehouse 26th on their list of the 100 Greatest Women in Music. 6. Frank: B-Sides (2008)
“I love Amy! I was enthralled by Back to Black, but when I heard Frank and some of her B-side recordings, I was mesmerized. I realize her real life is a soap opera and she’ll probably take the road of Janis Joplin or Mama Cass and leave before its time, but she has the ability to be a voice of her generation if she would lay off the drugs and booze and remember why she began her journey…If you like jazz, blues, soul, then you will love this music. Better yet your ears will thank you, and your soul will adore you!”
5. At The BBC (2012)
“The Dingle set alone deserved a full release: it’s short, sure, but it’s the best live performance of her career, no joke. The light, drum-less instrumentation may be a downside for some, but it highlights what she had of greatest: her soulful, expressive voice. This is Amy at the height of her vocal skills, rocking her best songs with passion and ease, flawlessly.”
4. Back To Black: B-Sides (2008)
“Even if she never records another album, Back To Black stands as Amy Winehouse’s legacy. It’s the sound of someone revising classic soul sounds, but also someone who grew up listening to hip hop – “you made me miss the Slick Rick gig”. In the 1960s she probably would’ve been a bigger star, and her bad behavior would have been better covered up, although much could be said (and it already has been by tabloid leeches who’ve probably never heard this album) about her bringing all the bad press upon herself. The songs here are all instant classics, and if she has nicked a chorus here or a horn part there, she’s really either subtle at it, or she’s doing so involuntarily.”

3. Lioness: Hidden Treasures (2011)
“”Lioness” is the understandable posthumous collection of songs in the wake of Amy Winehouse’s untimely death. As far as posthumous compilations go, it’s actually quite well done; the album flows together well, the production is more than solid and it’s very much an entertaining listen throughout. “
2. Frank (2003)
“Amy Winehouse’s debut album is flawless, in my opinion. Every song has its own charm, her lyrics are so honest and straightforward, the music production is old school mixed with modern beats and her voice is just unique. There are so many awesome songs, but my favourites are “In My Bed”, “Take the Box” and “October Song”. Amy gives you what you need: bold & sarcastic lyrics, heartbreaking ballads, amazing covers, fun tracks – it’s all in “Frank”.
1. Back To Black (2006)
“his is one of the best albums of the last decade. These are touching, beautiful, scorned pieces of some of the most emotional and cathartic music in mainstream history. Amy’s voice is honest in delivery and in sentiment, “You Know I’m No Good” presents a lover who wants to do right but can’t get over her past transgressions while “Back to Black” has a somber forlorn feeling spilling out like a murky stream with a plinking but stationary piano.”
