Anna Smyrk delivers new single ‘Garden-Variety Grief’

Celebrated indie-folk songwriter Anna Smyrk returns with ‘Garden-Variety Grief’. Produced by Anna Laverty (Courtney Barnett, Nick Cave), the track offers a cathartic blend of ’90s alt-pop, grief, and joy, written in the wake of Smyrk’s father’s sudden passing. It’s the first taste of her upcoming debut album.

To mark the release, Smyrk will embark on a unique free garden tour across Victoria, performing all-ages shows in community gardens before heading to Europe and the US.

The stunning video, directed by Nayomi Pattuwage, was shot by lamp-light in a Mornington paddock until 4am, reflecting the song’s emotional contrasts.
