8. A State Of Trance 2006 (2006)
“Armin van Buuren’s style, from the countless mixes/broadcasts I have heard him put out, tends to waver with inconsistency. I think A State of Trance 2006 is where Armin finally hits his stride and is able to keep up with his own work. I feel like Armin’s been tinkering with stylistic techniques during the previous State of Trance mixes – 2004 & 2005. I loved both, but each went off in some undesirable direction at some point and never quite seemed able to return to base. Armin seems to have taken the warmer from 2004 and the cooler from 2005 and rightly combined them to produce 2006; highlighting his electronica capabilities with flying colors and putting forth a set in which BOTH discs are equally as desirable.”
7. Shivers (2005)
“I just heard the famous song “Shivers” on videos, I thought just a regulars thing with no innovation but the song never left my imagination and now I know why Armin Van Buuren is truly an innovator in the dance genre. So MR Van Buuren Keep it up.”
6. 76 (2006)
“Trance seems to have become extremely stale of late. Most of the recent uplifting trance wouldn’t be out of place at a school disco, and a lot of the current wave of hard trance sounds like it has been created on someones spectrum. But at least there’s still one producer out there who is willing to push the sound forward. With 76 Van Buuren has created a trance album of pure quality. 13 tracks of beautiful vocals, driving bass lines, and searing synths. Collaborations with System F and Airwave are predictably the most dance floor oriented of the bunch, but tracks such as Stay and Astronauts show that Armin is able to create the kind of progressive trance that most producers can only dream of.”

5. Mirage (2010)
“Mirage is a return to Armin’s more grooving and trance like days. 3/4ths of the album are a fun and intoxicating journey that only requires one to close their eyes (or other more medicinal means) to take them to their favorite dance floor and beyond. The only weakness of the album is actually the last couple tracks which turn extremely “pop” oriented and feel like they belong on a top 20 bubblegum radio station. With that said, this is a good dance album that every Armin fan should have in their collection!”
4. Intense (2013)
“This album really grows on you. So many surprises, themes, melodies, emotions—all of which are thoughtful and like the title says, “Intense.” I tend to be really critical of music, and this is very very good on so many levels. There are so many artists out there producing things that will soon be forgotten, but this isn’t one of them. This is my top ten albums of all time.”
3. A State Of Trance 2007 (2007)
“This is Armin’s best compilation to date, his track selection on disc one (on the beach is perfect, and mixed flawlessly, starting off with Retrobyte’s mix of “Light The Skies” to start it off, followed by several slow, yet energetic tunes, with some of the most soothing vocals, one of which is DJ Shah Feat. Adrina Thrope – Who Will Find Me, which, imo, is one of the best tracks of the year, followed by A track from Kristy Hawkshaw which also is a good track, and a few good tracks following these, are sure to be played on the beach, if the weather is still good, or for those in tropical climates this time of year.”

2. A State Of Trance (2008)
“This is one fantastic collection of Trance music, spun by one of the best. The cover says it all; this is music that inspires transcendent thought… Ok so maybe that is over stating it a bit, but this is one of the best ASOT albums ever released by the talented Mr. van Buuren, and right up there with ASOT 2006 for the best ever.”
1. Imagine (2008)
“There are some DJs who establish themselves as #1 and then run out of creative energy to produce any original content that’s actually worth listening. Armin is the exception. Besides churning out his State of Trance radio shows where the newest constantly seems to top the one week before, his original work in Imagine is a masterpiece – or more correctly, a compilation of several masterpieces.”
