Astro Songs Ranked
Astro (Korean: 아스트로) is a South Korean boy band formed by Fantagio that debuted in 2016. The group is composed of six members: MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eun-woo, Moon Bin, Rocky and Yoon San-ha. They debuted with the single “Hide & Seek” from their debut EP Spring Up, and were subsequently named by Billboard as one of the best new K-pop groups of 2016. The members of Astro were known as iTeen Boys while training as part of Fantagio iTeen, a rookie talent development program under the management agency Fantagio. The group’s name and members were announced in August 2015. That month, they starred in a web drama series titled To Be Continued. The web drama featured the members as themselves, as well as Kim Sae-ron, Seo Kang-Joon, and Hello Venus. Here are all of Astro songs ranked.

10. Blue Flame (Blue Flame, 2019)
“I was so sad when I heard the opening beats of Blue Flame, I agree that the last comebacks haven’t been as strong, and Astro is better than following what’s “trendy”. I mean, I get that it might be cool now, but it’s not as distinctly Astro. I still love the boys, they’re great and super talented people, but I don’t like the way that their music is headed right now.”
9. Hanasake Mirai (Venus, 2019)
“Hanasake Mirai‘s sense of organic growth matches well with the song’s melody, which goes from coy to celebratory as the descending structure of the verses blooms into a full-throated hook. The structure and aesthetic feels very different from what’s happening in K-pop at the moment.”
8. Cat’s Eye (Spring Up, 2016)
“A side track given a music video referencing Astro’s pre-debut journey. It’s a fun, nostalgic slice of dance pop with a pleasant, breezy chorus and a few interesting instrumental touches.”

7. All Night (All Light, 2019)
“It’s safe to say that Astro’s title tracks are never going to quite go back to that sound I adored, but they remain the strongest and most consistent group I know. All Night is definitely their weakest title track yet, but it still manages to be a standout. I was think about this during my first listen — don’t you think this just sounds like Astro? It doesn’t sound like their typical style and should feel like a complete 180, but it’s just so undoubtedly Astro and so undoubtedly strong.”
6. Always You (Rise Up, 2018)
“I was admittedly apprehensive when I listened to the highlight medley for the album. Astro is the only group that’s pulled off their trademark bright, not quite bubblegum pop so well, and I’ll forever be mourning the loss of that style as their sound continues to mature; however, Always You makes me realize I shouldn’t have worried. It gave me multiple scares on the first listen (the dark atmosphere itself and the chorus that sounded like it would be empty as it began, to name a couple) but they pull it off incredibly well with a mix of production and pure vocal power.”
5. Crazy Sexy Cool (Dream Part.02, 2017)
“In many ways, Crazy sounds like Astro covering Shinee. Its serpentine verses and smooth, slinky chorus could have easily found their way onto 2015’s Odd. But Astro have a secret weapon in the form of their gorgeous, airtight harmonies during the track’s pre-chorus. A focus on vocal harmony and blend is certainly not new for k-pop, but it’s been some time since a song embraced this classic sound so giddily.”

4. Baby (Dream Part.01, 2017)
“To be really honest, the first time I listened to this song, I’m a little bit disappointed, like I just expect more from them. But they are my bias group so I still feel obligation to at least help them stream the songs..but lo and behold, by the third listening (yes third, I still remember it clearly), this song already grew deep in me, rooted in my ears (and my heart) and still didn’t let go..”
3. Confession (Autumn Story, 2016)
“Composed by Youngbae and production team Oreo, Confession kicks off with a mix of electric guitar and pulsing synths that sweeps us into the verse. The initial melody is a bit of a red herring, as the second verse eschews its structure in favor of a burst of rap and extended pre-chorus.”
2. Breathless (Summer Vibes, 2016)
“Breathless is a burst of excitement from the get-go, never letting up until it’s finished. Initially, I didn’t feel like the central refrain was particularly impactful, but repeated listens have proven otherwise. It rides on a tropical mix of synths, guitar and delightful syncopation. “
1. Hide & Seek (Spring Up, 2016)
“The track uses one of my favorite rhythmic styles. I’m sure the drum pattern has some sort of specific technical term, but I’m just going to call it “galloping,” because it feels like it’s constantly propelling forward rather than simply keeping time. As a fan of lighter pop music, I’m so happy that boy groups are again freed to explore their more melodic side.”
Thanks for any other great post. The place else could anyone get that type of information in such a perfect means of writing? I have a presentation next week, and I’m at the search for such info.
