Barking Poets embrace space and sorrow on soaring new single ‘Losing Contact’

London power-pop punk trio Barking Poets are back with ‘Losing Contact’, an unexpected cosmic detour that pushes their sound into new dimensions. Out now via Engineer Records, the track marks the latest in their recent streak of singles, following ‘Arizona’ and ‘The Mess I Made’.

Opening with a riff-and-groove combo reminiscent of Green Day and Foo Fighters, ‘Losing Contact’ quickly takes a turn. Vocalist Neil dips into his lower register—evoking shades of Jim Morrison—before launching into a harmony-soaked chorus that transforms the familiar ache of leaving friends behind into a tale of interstellar isolation.

Then comes the twist: the groove melts away, an ethereal choir breaks through, and the song lifts into full anthem mode, complete with a bluesy, Slash-worthy guitar solo. Produced by Paul Tipler (Placebo, Idlewild) at London’s Unit 13 Studios, ‘Losing Contact’ is as bold as it is heartfelt—a power-pop rocket ship headed for emotional orbit.
