BLOKE unleash debut EP ‘Living Without Expectations’
The wait is finally over for fans of BLOKE, the experimental noise-rock collective straddling London and Berlin, as they release their highly anticipated debut EP ‘Living Without Expectations’ via Tonzonen Records/Cargo Records, alongside lead single ‘Tomorrow’.
Emerging as a sonic force of controlled chaos, BLOKE take inspiration from Spacemen 3, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, and A Place to Bury Strangers, crafting a raw yet immersive blend of psychedelia, post-punk urgency, and relentless Krautrock persistence. More than just a collection of songs, ‘Living Without Expectations’ stands as an orchestrated soundscape, reflecting the turbulence of modern existence and the fractured realities of the past few years.
“The project primarily revolves around my personal experiences in creating music and art, and contemplates the struggle of being human in the 21st century,” says frontman Jakob Buraczewski. “Ultimately, it represents a journey of self-discovery and artistic growth, allowing me to express my thoughts and emotions more freely. I hope that listeners can connect with these themes and find their own reflections within the music.”
While previously released singles ‘Money Says’ and ‘Up Tight’ dive into political and societal landscapes, the EP’s standout track ‘Tomorrow’ takes a more intimate turn, exploring how past relationships distort and shape our present realities. With its hypnotic, momentum-building repetition, the track erupts into a burst of distorted guitars, punctuated by a haunting harmonica line, amplifying the track’s emotional weight. “The track may come across as repetitive at first, but it’s simply building momentum,” explains Jakob. “When it finally bursts into life, the effect is truly poignant.”
