Brooklyn’s Two-Man Giant Squid announce self-titled album, share new single ‘Weird Recordings (you’ve got some)’

Brooklyn-based band Two-Man Giant Squid have announced their upcoming self-titled album, due out March 7, 2025 via Mint 400 Records. Alongside the announcement, the band has released a new single from the LP Weird Recordings (you’ve got some)’, a fiery post-punk anthem brimming with raw energy and self-reflective humour.

On ‘Weird Recordings (you’ve got some)’, bandleader Mitchell Vinokur bares his artistic struggles, revealing the tension between striving for perfection and embracing individuality. “I had been working on a song called ‘Brian Eno’ for over six months, but I couldn’t get it to the place I wanted,” Vinokur shares. “After rehearsal, our band had a big fight on the subway platform about it. My fiancé – our synth player Sam – was really upset that I let that process take up so much of my life with nothing to show for it.”

The next day, Vinokur turned that tension into creativity, writing ‘Weird Recordings (you’ve got some)’. “It broadcasts that fight we had on the subway platform and encourages people to not be afraid to show off their ‘weird sh*t.’ To let their freak flag fly,” he explains. “It also explores how trying to be perfect can lead to self-destruction. It’s done in a signature tongue-in-cheek Two-Man Giant Squid way…with me arguing with myself for most of the song.”
