Claire Morales confronts inner turmoil in raw new single and one-shot video ‘Champion’

Texas-based music and visual artist Claire Morales has announced her upcoming album ‘Lost in the Desert’, due out August 19. Today, she offers a powerful preview with its lead single ‘Champion’, a cathartic track paired with a gripping one-take visual that captures the visceral emotion behind the song.

Written during a period of personal collapse, ‘Champion’ is an anthem for those learning to face discomfort head-on. “I had spent years avoiding conflict,” Morales says. “Unsurprisingly, that created major issues in my personal life. Everything came to a head while I was releasing my last album. I learned that putting music out into the world can be a catalyst for upheaval.”

The accompanying music video, filmed in a single take, acts as a visual exorcism. Morales screams, cries, and thrashes her way through the track, letting emotion flood through the frame. “Filming the video felt like exposure therapy,” she adds. “It was terrifying—but necessary.”

With ‘Lost in the Desert’, Morales steps boldly into the fire, unafraid to show the cracks and scars. ‘Champion’ is a declaration of selfhood from an artist who’s done hiding.
