Day6 (Korean: 데이식스; RR: De-i-sik-seu; stylized in all caps) is a South Korean pop-rock band under the label JYP Entertainment. The group debuted on September 7, 2015, with the EP The Day, which peaked at No.2 on Billboard‘s World Album Chart a week following its release. The band consists of four members: Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon. Originally a six-piece band, Junhyeok departed in February 2016 and Jae departed on December 31, 2021. All of the Day6 members are heavily involved in writing, composing and producing the band’s music. In 2017, the band released two songs every month of the year for their Every Day6 project. By the end of the project, 25 songs were added to their discography, with genres ranging from hard rock and upbeat sing-a-longs to mellow ballads. Their first full-length album, Sunrise, consisted of songs released in the first half of the Every Day6 project. It was number 14 on Billboard‘s The 25 Greatest K-Pop Albums of the 2010s: Staff List, and the project kick-off song “I Wait” was placed No.81 on Billboard‘s The 100 Greatest K-Pop Songs of the 2010s: Staff List. 6. Sunrise
“If you’re a rock fan, I think you’ll like this, as unlike most K-pop groups (who mostly do dances and vocal and have live bands behind them), Day6 actually play their own instruments which really adds a nice different feel to their stuff. So if you’re into K-pop and looking for something different, or just a rock or even metal fan, I think you’ll like Day6.”
5. Unlock
“Day6 doesn’t disappoint with their upbeat 2000’s rock-inspired tracks and relationship-themed lyrics. They are all decent songs that each give off a certain mood. The takeaway though feels a little mixed because of the arrangement of the tracks. Going from the high of “Everybody Rock!” to the abruptly slower opening of “I Just” creates a weird stall.”
4. Moonrise
“This album is such an amazing album. It is filled with so much emotion. Every time I listen to this album I discover more of the meaning of the song and the lyrics. I absolutely love this album.”
3. The Book Of Us: Gravity
“Day6 never disappoints in anything from lyricism to composition to album concept. Brian and Sungjin managed to completely encompass not only the uncertainty of young adulthood and the yearning for simpler days but also the personal journey to self-acceptance and self-love after a long and difficult time understanding one’s own identity and mentality. This album is probably going to be the one I point back to decades from now when I wish to sum up my own thoughts and emotions in my early twenties.”
2. The Book Of Us: Entropy
“Isn’t it the best Day6 album? Day6 is trying different genres and go beyond that with this album. You constantly are waiting for a surprised, but a sweet one. Maybe some say it’s too much, but not Day6 definitely know what they are doing, they out did themselves.”
1. Remember Us: Youth Part 2
“It always amazes me how involved the boys are in the writing processes for their albums, like there really aren’t a lot of artists that are credited on literally every song on their albums (except the instrumental don’t come for me). And like hat’s off to our main man young k like our boy putting in work wow”
Fantastic post but I was wanting to know if you could write a litte more on this topic? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit more. Appreciate it!
