7. Dancing With The Devil… The Art Of Starting Over, 2021
“In the TV docu series “Dancing with the Devil” Demi Lovato is followed after struggling with an eating disorder, drugs and alcohol. This is the accompanying studio album. The title track is about her experience of being hospitalized after an opioid overdose. ICU (Madison’s Lullaby) continues this theme of the Intensive Care Unit, where she failed to recognize her sister Madison. She plays with the double meaning of the title. Melon Cake is a memory of past birthdays, when she ate water melon decorated like a cake, to avoid the calories. She’s determined to eat whatever she wants on her next birthday. In The Kind of Lover I Am she comes out as pansexual. Ariana Grande wrote a duet, and there’s a Tears for Fears cover. This concept album is her attempt to deal with her demons of the past and reach catharsis in the future.”
6. Confident, 2015
“The former teen star makes a more mature album with a mixture of catchy pop tunes and more personal ballads. It opens with two singles produced by Max Martin. In Confident she makes clear that she overcame her eating disorder and looks with optimism to the future. Cool for the Summer is a light-hearted dance tune with a kind of oxymoron in the title. Highlights are the emotional ballads Stone Cold and Lionheart. The latter is a heartfelt tribute to her dog that was killed by a coyote. She made great progression as a vocalist and lyricist.”
5. Don’t Forget, 2008
“Demi Lovato is a young talented singer that started her carrier as an actress in Barney and friends when she was seven years old; she kept on acting in a show called “As the Bell Rings.” After that show she came out in a movie called “Camp Rock” and that’s when her first album as a solo “Don’t Forget.” Well this album is awesome because all the songs or most of them are written by her and all of them has its own touch in other words something special. The subject Demi explores in her music is love and tells you to be your self no matter what. The main theme of Demi Lovato’s album “Don’t Forget” is that always be your self.”
4. Demi, 2013
“Demi brings a mixture of melodic pop hits with with catchy tunes and more personal ballads with more acoustic instruments. She has a powerful voice and emotional expression. Of the hits Neon Lights is the most positive and most appealing. Heart Attack starts with a processed voice, but just as a sound effect. The last two tracks are the most personal. She sings about her struggle to overcome private problems. Shouldn’t Come Back is about her father, who was absent most of her life. The vocal quality and the balance between a popular and a personal approach make this a pleasant listen.”

3. Unbroken, 2011
“I have Demi Lovato’s other albums which are fab too however this album is fantastic. Demi’s voice has really matured and with each song she sings, she has proven once again that nothing will stand in her way. My personal favorite songs are Lightweight and Skyscraper (I do like all of them but to me, these two songs stand out for me”
2. Tell Me You Love Me, 2017
“It’s a solid album. I think it just highlights a struggle with consistency, as this is Demi’s most consistent album so far and it still has tons of flaws. The production can be a dramatic compliment like Tell Me You Love Me or it can be dated like Sorry Not Sorry. The songwriting can be natural like Concentrate, or it can be forced like Sexy Dirty Love. Overall though, I think she makes a successful transition and makes another small step forward as a songwriter and gains some nuance as a singer.”
1. Here We Go Again, 2009
“I typically try to avoid albums like this because they seem like teeny bopper tunes. But, since I enjoy pop (especially female voice) I felt inclined to give Demi’s music a go. This one really hit me and it’s become my favorite Demi album. It starts off with mostly high stars for me (4 and 5 out of 5 stars), and then the remainder of the album is middle of the line for me (3 stars). Which means it’s still a great album overall.”
