Domi Hawken unveils darkly captivating new single ‘The Moment I Need You Most’
Fresh from the success of her debut EP ‘Sociable Pariah’, London’s dark rock poet Domi Hawken returns with ‘The Moment I Need You Most’, the first glimpse into her upcoming sophomore EP, ‘Water and The Wine’. Out now, the track dives headfirst into obsession, fixation, and unraveling desire, blending Hawken’s signature punk swagger with folk-infused storytelling.
Unfolding like a psychological thriller, the song oscillates between desperate longing and frenzied delusion, painting a chilling portrait of a protagonist lost in fantasy. “To me, the song is unhinged,” Hawken admits. “It isn’t about pining for someone you’re in a relationship with—the protagonist is desperate. Maybe the person she’s singing about barely knows her, and the whole thing is blown out of proportion in her mind.”
Sonically, ‘The Moment I Need You Most’ mirrors this instability, shifting from calm, calculated verses to chaotic, crashing crescendos, with stark silences that feel like gasps for air. The accompanying self-directed VHS music video amplifies the song’s unhinged energy, creating an intentionally jarring visual experience. “I wanted both the music and the video to reflect this feeling—unstable, dramatic, spiralling into madness,” Hawken explains.
