dweller. confronts genocide and shared humanity on searing new single ‘Make Home’
New York-based post-hardcore band dweller. have always approached music as catharsis. On their 2023 breakout EP ‘All The Things We Carry’, they explored grief’s complex stages with unflinching vulnerability. Now, entering a new chapter, they turn their gaze outward, channelling rage and resilience into global and social commentary.
Their new single ‘Make Home’ is a visceral, murky track charged with crushing vocals and thick distortion, embodying a desperate plea against the genocide in Gaza. “Have we forgotten our neighbour / is every single human being?” asks vocalist/guitarist Juan Aguilar, a line that cuts through the noise as both a call to conscience and a cry for solidarity.
The self-directed video juxtaposes scenes of domestic destruction with the band’s searing performance, emphasizing the devastation of what should be safe and sacred: home. In tandem with the release, dweller. urges listeners to support Gaza Soup Kitchen and the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, echoing their message of shared humanity beyond borders.
Speaking on the track, the band shares: “‘Make Home’ was born as a reaction to witnessing the genocide taking place in Gaza — from the anger at the systems that allowed it to happen, and the complacency of the world at the killing of thousands of civilians. It’s a tribute to those who long for simple things — four walls, a roof, blue skies without raining fire, and a chance to grow old.”
