EP REVIEW: Bad Friends With Black Cats – ‘I WANT TO MOVE’

Ever since they first emerged, Canadian duo Bad Friends With Black Cats have always looked to explore a more multifaceted appeal than many on the scene. Blending a tenacious punk attitude with some brilliantly thought-provoking lyricism throughout their work to date, they have cemented themselves as one of the more distinctive names doing the rounds. And with their much-loved comeback single ‘OKAY, BYE’ reestablishing them back into the fold, they now deliver their anthemic new EP ‘I WANT TO MOVE’, a collection brimming with fun and lively energy from start to finish.

With pretty much everything they have released until now an acoustic-led demo, ‘I WANT TO MOVE’ marks the first time we get to hear them with full studio quality. And oh boy are we in for a treat! Pretty much every track on this new EP is its own catchy singalong jam, perfectly highlighting the live rigour they have been bringing to their performances over the years. Brimming with a fast and tenacious pace that suits their folk-punk aesthetic at every turn, they are certainly looking to get us moving with this one.

While these last few years have been a great source of self-discovery and innovation, ‘I WANT TO MOVE’ comes out of the gates with a fascinating appeal. Buoyant and enjoyable from beginning to end, Bad Friends With Black Cats are one of the more exciting names rising through the ranks right now.
