EP REVIEW: britta raci – ‘striking out’

Ever since she first emerged with her breakthrough debut single ‘i don’t date losers (anymore)’ last year, fast-rising US artist britta raci has always looked to carve her own path within the new music scene. While taking cues from the new faces of the pop-rock sound such as Olivia Rodrigo, her direction has a rawer and more rustic appeal to it, giving her this wonderfully distinctive aesthetic in which to call her own. And after an almost endless run of releases these last few months, she is now looking to cement her glorious legacy to date with her eagerly-awaited debut EP ‘striking out’, a collection that builds upon those dynamic foundations to date.

Featuring the previously shared anthem ‘benchwarmer’, this new four-track offering almost comes across as a concept release of sorts. With each track title referencing baseball in some way or another, which she states “honours all the games my cheating ex-boyfriend played with me”, ‘striking out’ comes across as a wonderfully fresh and enjoyable listen. Delivering more of those rich and captivating pop-rock textures she has been cultivating lately, her first EP is a bold and confident show of strength from start to finish.

These last few months have certainly been a busy and prolific time during her tenure, but ‘striking out’ proves she is still very much on top of her creative game here. Brimming with this bright and infectious atmosphere at every turn, britta raci continues her ascent as one of the more exciting names on the rise right now.

britta raci’s debut EP ‘striking out’ will be available to stream from the 14th June.
