Europe Songs Ranked
Europe is a Swedish rock band formed in Upplands Väsby, Sweden in 1979, by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson, and drummer Tony Reno. They obtained a major breakthrough in Sweden in 1982 by winning the televised competition “Rock-SM” (Swedish Rock Championships): it was the first time this competition was held, and Europe became a larger success than the competition itself. Europe went on hiatus in 1992, reunited temporarily for a one-off performance in Stockholm on New Year’s Eve 1999, and announced an official reunion in 2003. Since then the band has released six albums, Start from the Dark (2004), Secret Society (2006), Last Look at Eden (2009), Bag of Bones (2012), War of Kings (2015) and Walk the Earth (2017). The band is mainly influenced by Whitesnake, Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, UFO, and Michael Schenker Group. Here are all of Europe’s songs ranked.

20. Memories (Memories, 1983)
“Joey is a real music genius… you need to be very talented and committed to make such compositions on both heavy metal and melodic/hard rock. That’s something you should recognize.”
19. Prisoners in Paradise (Prisoners in Paradise, 1991)
“We’re the children of tomorrow, hangin’ on to yesterday”. So true, in their case at least “. Amazing music, amazing lyrics, amazing song! Prisoners in Paradise fantastic song.”
18. Danger on the Track (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“Amazing hard rock. Not tip-top, but an important piece of any decent rock playlist. Certainly not their worst song”
17. Last Look at Eden (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“This is not a glam rock song like in the 80s. This time is very different. Their music is full of power, hard rock at its best. One of their best song after the Final Countdown – full-on hard rock rather than wimpy stuff.”

16. On Broken Wings (1982-1992, 1993)
“On Broken Wings is by far Europe’s songwriting at its very best. It’s a straight-out rocker with a melody and hooks that Jon Bon Jovi would kill for. John Norum is such an amazing guitarist.”
15. Lyin’ Eyes (Wings of Tomorrow, 1984)
“Europe’s Wings of Tomorrow is a frosty blast of elegant hard rock stylings that unfortunately can’t escape the gravitational pull of lousy production, no matter how hard it flaps those armored wings.”
14. Tomorrow (Out of This World, 1988)
“Tomorrow might secretly be their best song. Very beautiful piano-driven ballad with fantastic vocals per the usual from Joey Tempest.”
13. Coast to Coast (Out of This World, 1988)
“To me they should have stopped on this record and gone no further. It was really good consistent album in tune with time – from the band where everybody could deliver his ideas to very high standards. Impressive songwriting and extremely enjoyable work of the lead singer, too! “
12. Ready or Not (Out of This World, 1988)
“This is one of my Fav Europe songs but the Live in Essen version sounds better then the studio version.. Powerful! Joey Tempest is a genius.”
11. Time Has Come (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“This a much better ballad than Carrie (I do like that song, just not as much as this one.) TIme Has Come just sounds a lot better, and its lyrics are a lot more interesting and original.”
10. Dreamer (Wings of Tomorrow, 1984)
“Dreamer”, which is a nice ballad with piano, and great vocal performance. Europe would go on to be bigger after this album, and while I will always love their later albums for the glam-metal pop goodness they bring, this album is where they hit the mark.”
9. Seven Doors Hotel (Europe, 1983)
“Seven Doors Hotel, a song originally from the 1983 self-titled first album, was re-recorded in 1985 for this single. Slightly different than the original, but it including Ian Haugland and Mic Michaeli for the first time. This version of Seven Doors Hotel later appeared on the 2004 collection “Rock The Night: The Very Best Of Europe””
8. Love Chaser (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“.Love chaser is also a good track specially when they played it live. They played this song a little bit more different and with a longer guitar solo and harder riffs.”
7. Stormwind (Wings of Tomorrow, 1984)
“Stormwind”, the striding opening track from Europe’s _Wings of Tomorrow_ LP, was issued as a single in 1984. Produced by Leif Mases, “Stormwind” showcases vocalist Joey Tempest and guitarist John Norum throughout the galvanized gust of Euro heaviness. “Stormwind” served as a solid transition from Europe’s dynamic debut album. It wasn’t until the ’86 release of _The Final Countdown_ album that keyboards took on a pronounced stand in Europe’s recordings, as evident by the title track from the group’s third full length studio recording.”

6. Cherokee (The Final Countdown, 1986)
For me, it’s one of the best Europe songs, don’t understand why it’s so low. Amazing song. It makes me feel like I’m one of them. It’s rock’s I don’t think people give this band or this album too much credit, under the weight of the one-hit-wonder there are so many awesome and well-made tracks that could easily have been hit by their own.”
5. Rock the Night (The Final Countdown , 1986)
“Most motivational song ever! Whenever I want to do anything done this song gets me so pumped. This song is pure late 80’s cheese pop rock. Is there anything wrong with that? Maybe for some? This is no cure for cancer. It will not dive head first in to the serious problems of the day. But that was never the point. Was never meant to be taken serious on any level. But if you want something light and fluffy then this is your song. Now get out your can of hairspray, pump your fists in the air and sing in to the handle of a tennis racket!”
4. Open Your Heart (Wings of Tomorrow, 1984)
“Open your heart” is almost a ballad, and Joey Tempest really get to show off his voice on this one. This album is awesome and very much a timeless classic, when you go to the rock concerts and you know that they band are gonna play one of these tracks the crowds screams and roars with excitement. “
3. Superstitious (Out of This World, 1988)
“The fact that I picture many many women in leotards and flexing on poles to this makes me like it kind of, this is power fluff. They have the guitars making some lame riff, mixing it with some power ego inflated Buffon singing and just lots and lots of emotion in his voice. Sometimes groups like this just got them by on accident.”
2. Carrie (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“The Final Countdown’s Europe’s most popular song, but I love Carrie because it’s one of their best ballads and I’m really big on glam metal ballads.”
1. The Final Countdown (The Final Countdown, 1986)
“”The Final Countdown” is perfection. It is the song that changed my view on aliens, space travel, inter-planetary diplomacy and life itself. If that Intro doesn’t make you want to run in slow motion, you haven’t lived life.”
