Griefcat showcase new album with the catchy ‘Carbon Footprint’
Having already made their mark as one of the more enjoyable names doing the rounds in recent years, US duo Griefcat now look to showcase their recent studio album ‘Late Stage Capitalism’ with the catchy new single ‘Carbon Footprint’.
Playing fast and loose with the tongue-in-cheek lyrics throughout, ‘Carbon Footprint’ is an ode to the fury we all feel at the state of the world right now. Brimming with a fun and lively pop-punk aesthetic throughout, you’ll be humming this one long after you first hear it.
Speaking about the track, they said, “Punk is a big departure for us, but an antiestablishment album calls for an antiestablishment song. We had so much fun writing and recording it. The beautiful irony is that the term carbon footprint was coined by oil companies. One of our favorite lines is ‘well I hope you do your taxes’ – we are raging against the machine, but we have to operate inside the machine in order to survive (and to avoid going to jail for tax evasion). And before you ask us, no, we have not calculated our own carbon footprint yet!”
