Guest In The Car unveils new single ‘You Are What You Own’
London-based alt-rock project Guest In The Car returns with their latest single ‘You Are What You Own’ The track dives into themes of self-worth, identity, and the emotional lengths we go to in search of love, blending haunting acoustic textures with raw, expressive vocals.
Sonically, ‘You Are What You Own’ carries the brooding intensity of Radiohead’s ‘The Bends’-era and the introspective lyricism of Elliott Smith, crafting an atmospheric yet deeply personal sound that lingers long after the final note. Moving away from the shoegaze-infused energy of their debut single ‘Music For The Kids’, this new track strips things back for a more intimate and vulnerable storytelling approach.
Frontman Rob elaborates:
“I knew I wanted to do almost the opposite in terms of our first track. I wanted it to feel almost like a one-to-one conversation and explore the grey area between friendship and love. We’ve all felt this way at one point—it’s kind of an ugly feeling, but I have honestly felt like that before, and the honesty of it all is my favourite thing about the track.”
