Haste the Day Songs Ranked
Haste the Day was an American metalcore band formed in Carmel, Indiana in 2001 and signed to Solid State Records. Their name is derived from a lyric in the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul” by Horatio Spafford. The band released an EP titled That They May Know You, in 2002, followed by five studio albums: Burning Bridges (2004), When Everything Falls (2005), Pressure the Hinges (2007), Dreamer (2008), and Attack of the Wolf King (2010). The group disbanded in March 2011 but reformed in 2014 and released Coward in 2015. Haste the Day formed in 2001 in Carmel, Indiana. The name was discovered by Devin Chaulk who read it from the hymn “It Is Well with My Soul.” The band originally started out as a three-piece including: Brennan Chaulk (guitar/vocals), Devin Chaulk (drums/vocals), and Mike Murphy (bass/vocals). Six months after forming, the band added longtime friend Jason Barnes to the group as a second guitarist. In 2002, the band recruited Jimmy Ryan as their lead vocalist who was member of the death metal band Upheaval from 1997 until 1999. According to Ryan, he met Barnes at a bible study and recognized him, which led to the invitation to join the band. In the summer of 2002, the band self-produced their first EP, That They May Know You with the song “Substance” acting as the lead single. A year later Haste the Day signed with Tooth & Nail Records subsidiary Solid State Records. Here are all of Haste the Day songs ranked.

10. American Love (Burning Bridges, 2004)
“I find these lyrics have a lot of meaning with me, but I see it more of as a relationship.. it could be about God, but it just seems so closed minded to decide any song by a religious band is about God. I think it really depends on how it pertains to you individually… which in this case, it sounds like a broken relationship.. I really love the line where he asks her or whoever to stay with him forever.”
9. Chorus of Angels (Pressure the Hinges, 2007)
“This is one of my favorite songs ever, this song to me is about how we are all tempted and harassed by the devil every day and in the end our sins will be destroyed and Christs return will be led by the Chorus of Angels…Deep and completely awesome!”
8. Pressure the Hinges (Pressure the Hinges, 2007)
“Pressure The Hinges has all the highly polished production, guitars and vocals you’d expect from a melodic metalcore band, but for once, I can say they’ve done it well. The riffs are simpler than their earlier stuff, but somehow, this time, they’ve managed to create cohesive and memorable songs rather than the usual sterile metalcore.”

7. Needles (Pressure the Hinges, 2007)
“I freaking love this song! i get the opposite feeling then thebigman i think that lyrically theyve grown so much since burning bridges. every single song applies to my life so well. its amazing how deep every single song is.”
6. All I Have (When Everything Falls, 2005)
“I absolutely agree with a7x. Haste the Day is obviously a religious band, just read the lyrics. its probably even more evident in this song than most of the others. They basically say ‘Jesus loves us no matter what we do, no matter how badly we sin’ without ever mentioning His name.”
5. Long Way Down (When Everything Falls, 2005)
“Original version by goo goo dolls is nothing compaired to the up tempo version of haste the day’s. i appreciate the goo goo dolls and their music but this song definately sounds better when it’s played fast. maybe if i want to sleep i will listen to the original but for a song that is about like religion, the passion that haste the day’s version has makes a lot more sense. although if you look at it like it is a prayer maybe the original fits better. it all depends on your mood and taste.”

4. Autumn (Dreamer, 2008)
“This is the best song for the time when you look out of the window and the time comes where you can watch how the red leaves are falling to the ground. this song is full of emotions..”
3. Stitches (Pressure the Hinges, 2007)
“I think that the video really helps clear this up. It’s about someone watching someone they really love destroy their life with something like cutting/suicide. I can really relate to this song and it’s a huge inspiration. I think what they’re trying to say is stop keeping quiet and do something about it because if you don’t they could be gone.”
2. When Everything Falls (When Everything Falls, 2005)
“I agree that this song is about standing strong for what you believe in, but, at least in Jimmy’s case, I think he’s talking about standing strong in faith even when bad things are happening all around you. In one place it sounds like he’s asking God to help him: “You give me the strength, help me fight, help me fight”. He could be talking to someone else, but I think it’s God.”
1. Invoke Reform (Dreamer, 2008)
“This song is horribly underrated. I find it amazing, probably the most amazing on the album “Dreamer”. I believe this song is talking about a non-Christian and how they have not experienced the true presence of God, but at the same time fails to hear a Christian’s point of view.”
