heavy wild announce debut EP ‘Death Dreams’ with gripping new single ‘Wasteland’
London-based lo-fi rock outfit heavy wild have announced their debut EP ‘Death Dreams’, set for release on 28th May. Alongside the announcement, the band have dropped their raw new single ‘Wasteland’.
Driven by distorted synths, shimmering guitars, and fuzzed-out vocals, ‘Wasteland’ is a moody and compelling track that delves into themes of fractured relationships, arrests, and suicide. Despite its bleak imagery, songwriter Wolfgang Harte describes it as ultimately optimistic.
“Ultimately, it’s an optimistic track,” Harte shares. “It’s about going through dark times and finding a way to keep on going. I had a bassline that I was just playing on loop and I started writing, and this montage of stuff that had happened over the years was flooding my mind. The energy of that bassline just kept dragging more stuff up. I guess it’s me sort of processing some of those situations and reflecting on it all. It’s about standing in the wreckage of life and saying fuck it… just gotta keep going.”
