Hellhouse announce debut EP with new single ‘175th St’
Los Angeles-based shoegaze outfit Hellhouse make their official entrance with their debut single ‘175th St’, setting the stage for their self-titled debut EP, set for release on March 28, 2025, via Underflow Records. The single arrives alongside a visually striking (and nearly NSFW) music video directed by Oskar Malone Pëyak, offering a dark, immersive glimpse into the world of Hellhouse.
Hellhouse is a dark, experimental pop shoegaze project founded by Chris Spino (aka Coma Girls) as a space to explore heavy guitar tones and extreme pedal experimentation. After a decade focusing solely on Coma Girls, Spino teamed up with Kai Richard, Shravan Surendran (drums), and Mark Cieslikowski (bass) to create a sound that fuses the atmospheric grandeur of shoegaze with a sharp pop sensibility and baritone vocal stylings reminiscent of Rozz Williams and Ian Curtis.
Written by Spino and Richard, the Hellhouse EP was recorded live with minimal overdubs, produced by longtime Coma Girls collaborator Christian Paul Phillippi (Dies) and mastered by Joey Oaxaca. Lyrically, the EP dives into covert misanthropy, struggles with alcoholism, and the darker edges of human experience, pairing raw vulnerability with towering walls of sound.
