Here & Now Songs Ranked
Here & Now is the 16th original studio album by American folk-rock duo America, released by Burgundy Records in January 2007. This is the first pop music studio album released by the group since Human Nature in 1998 (the group released a Christmas-themed studio album in 2002, Holiday Harmony). The album reached number 52 on the Billboard albums chart, America’s best chart showing since 1982’s View from the Ground. Songs that received some airplay in the U.S. were “Always Love”, “Love and Leaving”, “Chasing the Rainbow”, and “Ride On”. The recording sessions were completed in July 2006, but a scheduled September release was eventually pushed back to January 2007. This was the first known occasion on which America recorded in a studio in New York City. The album reached No. 52 in its debut week, the highest position for the band since 1982’s View from the Ground. Here are all of Here & Now songs ranked.

10. A Horse With No Name
“For me, it was some great exposure to their “History” Greatest Hits album during college that led to my appreciation of their varied and always melodic style. I never did dig too deeply into their catalog at the time, but certainly considered them worth a very enjoyable listen.”
9. Sandman
“That long absence is part of the reason why this album absolutely floored me. But more importantly, this is an exceptional album on any level, irrespective of who the artist(s) is or what their previous history entailed.”
8. Only in Your Heart
“From a production standpoint, you won’t hear a better “sounding” album anywhere. The songs are all strong, varied, and strike both familiar chords as well as embrace newly creative modern visions.”

7. Muskrat Love
“There isn’t a clunker in the bunch and the album lifts the spirit, elevates the senses, and leaves the listener feeling simpatico with the sentiments expressed in satisfying, and sometimes even humorous ways.”
6. I Need You
“Love it! America was one of my favorite bands throughout the 70s. One of the top-selling bands of that decade, I loved the acoustic rock sound and tight harmonies that made their sound so distinctive, and I’ve been playing their “History” greatest hits album on a regular basis in the years since. Their songs are timeless.”
5. Don’t Cross the River
“One thing that makes this album so special is the combination of America with younger musicians and producers which was key for the outcome of this project.”

4. All I Think About Is You
“Like most of America’s songs, the song topics deal mostly with the trials, tribulations, joys, and sorrows of love, but this album shows an America that is world wizened, and with a very human perspective based on probably hard-earned experience in life’s realities.”
3. Look at Me Now
“Dewey Bunnell’s songs mostly still show an optimism in love, although at times with a knowingly ironic misplacement (i.e. “This Time”), while Gerry Beckley’s soaring efforts exhibit the confusion and self-doubt that all of us feel, even when trying to convince ourselves otherwise (i.e. “Look at Me Now”).”
2. Golden
“Dewey covering the group “My Morning Jacket” song “Golden”, this song has a country sounding twist, Dewey does a great job bringing the visual effects of this song alive.”
1. Chasing the Rainbow
“Chasing The Rainbow” opens the album with the classic America sound. “Ride On” is a bit more of a rocker with Dewey Bunnell’s voice sounding better than ever. There is not a bad track on this album.”
