Honey I’m Home share cathartic shoegaze debut ‘Wishful Thinking’

Rising from the ashes—literally—Amsterdam-based band Honey I’m Home crash onto the scene with their debut single ‘Wishful Thinking’, a fuzz-drenched shoegaze anthem born out of loss and longing.

Comprising members of Marathon, Jagd, and Banji, the group has already built serious momentum. They’ve opened for Goat Girl and The Buoys in Berlin, Hotline TNT in Amsterdam, and even performed at Girl in Red’s AFAS Live show. After two UK tours supporting Blood Wizard, they’re now stepping into the spotlight with a powerful introduction.

‘Wishful Thinking’ arrives fully formed: swirling reverb, heavy layers of distortion, and dreamy dual vocals that capture the emotional weight of reconnection and yearning. Co-lead vocalist and guitarist Thom Schotanus explains, “The song explores the longing to reconnect with people no longer in your life—whether it’s a lost love or a departed family member. We tried to capture the intensity of that unfulfilled desire with a layered, dreamlike soundscape.”

Mixed by shoegaze staple Sonny Diperri (Julie, DIIV, Protomartyr), the track was entirely self-recorded and self-produced—an impressive feat, especially considering it emerged in the aftermath of their rehearsal space burning down, along with all of their amps, guitars, and pedals.
