Illiterate Light unveil their euphoric new single ‘Payphone’
Following on from their much-loved ‘Slow Down Time’ EP and stunning comeback single ‘Norfolk Southern’ earlier this year, US duo Illiterate Light are back on the grind once again to deliver their euphoric new single ‘Payphone’.
Lifted from their forthcoming new album ‘Arches’, which is due out on the 1st November via Thirty Tigers, ‘Payphone’ makes for a dazzling return to form for the pair. With its explosive energy and killer hooks layered throughout, they are returning to us with one of their more impactful efforts to date here.
Speaking on the new song, the band’s Jeff Gorman said, “The song is a desperate phone call between Big Red and her man. He’s facing crippling self-doubt. She comforts him. Despite her seeming lack of depth, she is his guiding light as he’s hit rock bottom. The call keeps dropping. The music is jangly and groovy. A sweeping synth holds the melody together. Her love pushes him forward “with one eye open and a foot on the pedal.”
