INTERVIEW: LDRDO discusses his past, present and future alongside new single ‘Doing My Best’

Having already turned out a wealth of riveting releases these last few years, Tel Aviv-based artist LDRDO is back on the grind once again with his woozy new single ‘Doing My Best’.

Lifted from his eagerly-awaited debut album ‘On The Road’, which is due out later this year, ‘Doing My Best’ sees him returning to those warm and immersive aesthetics we love him for. So with the new single doing the rounds, we caught up with him to discuss his past, present and future ambitions.

What was the first rock song or artist that made an impact on you?

First thing that comes to mind is Black Sabbath- Paranoid.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences within the rock genre?

So many great artists, but to name a few: AC/DC, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Eagles.

Are there any non-rock musicians or genres that have also influenced your music?

Yes! Aris San, Stelios Kazantzidis, Curtis Mayfield, Isaac Hayes, Talking Heads, and there are so much more.

What is your main inspiration when looking to write new music?

It varies, sometimes I write about my past experiences or about a certain feelings  I had in with a particular moment in life, sometimes it’s just starts with me playing with some melodies I had or just musical ideas that I had in my head.

What do you enjoy most about performing live and do you have any memorable live performance experiences you’d like to share?

What I really enjoy is seeing people react to the music and having a good time, and the fact that music is a mind altering experience that can transform your mood is pretty remarkable feature that we have as humans.

What has been a particularly rewarding moment in your musical journey so far?

I got lots of them moments. Every time someone reaches out to me and says that they like the music and that it had an impact on them, it really means the world to me.

How would you define success as a musician?

I think success to me, is when the music reaches to the people who are interested in that piece of music, and that it means something to them. From there you can go and build a community of like minded individuals who appreciate your craft and what you do, and build from there. This goes a long way also for the business side of things.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out?

Keep on making good music that YOU love, and really enjoy the journey, believe that there’s someone out there who will love what you do. And  keep creating whenever possible. Sorry for the cliche, but it is true.
