INTERVIEW: Love Ghost discuss origins and influences alongside new single ‘Scrapbook’

Hot on the heels of their explosive single ‘RUNNIN’ WITH THE WOLVES’, alternative rock force Love Ghost returns with another hard-hitting release: ‘Scrapbook’, a fiery new collaboration with UK indie rockers The Skinner Brothers. Fusing emo-tinged introspection with anthemic, gritty choruses, ‘Scrapbook’ captures raw emotion and fearless energy, pushing Love Ghost’s sound into even bolder territory.

So we talk to Love Ghost about the story behind ‘Scrapbook’, their evolving international collaborations, and their upcoming plans.

What was the first rock song or artist that made an impact on you?

Nirvana… the whole album nevermind, when I discovered that it changed my world.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences within the rock genre?

Nine inch nails, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins and Three Days Grace to name a few.

Are there any non-rock musicians or genres that have also influenced your music?

Yes, definitely hip hop and pop but even classic and orchestral. I find myself listening to movie and TV soundtracks a lot

What is your main inspiration when looking to write new music?

Lately I’ve been trying to think of more interesting concepts and societal issues to write songs about. Yesterday I wrote a song about the shallowness of material goods and how the more you get the more empty you can feel.

What do you enjoy most about performing live and do you have any memorable live performance experiences you’d like to share?

I love connecting with the crowd, and honestly when a show is good I’d like a high, so I just love that experience.

What has been a particularly rewarding moment in your musical journey so far?

I’d say having my EP get featured in Rolling Stone Magazine in February was pretty amazing.

How would you define success as a musician?

I don’t know. There’s numbers and metrics for that but it’s all rubbish, as long as you are making music that’s connecting with people than you have won.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists who are just starting out?

1.   Write as much music as you can and also study the songs you like… ask yourself why you like them… create a formula of those songs and replicate it in your writing process

2.   Spend at least one hour a day promoting your project… I don’t care how you do it, but remember there is so much noise out there, that In order to be heard you have to make as much noise as possible.

3.   Find a way to record yourself at home, you will save so much money in the long term.

4.   Show love to those who show love to you.
