Invincible Songs Ranked
Invincible is the tenth and final studio album by American singer Michael Jackson, released on October 30, 2001, by Epic Records. It was Jackson’s sixth studio album released through Epic, and his last released before his death in 2009. The album features appearances from Carlos Santana, The Notorious B.I.G. and Slash. It incorporates R&B, pop and soul, and, similarly to Jackson’s previous material, the album explores themes such as love, romance, isolation, media criticism, and social issues. Invincible received mixed reviews from music critics, and became his most critically derided album. Retrospective reviews have been more positive, and the album has been credited as featuring early examples of dubstep. In 2009, it was voted by online readers of Billboard as the best album of the decade. Here are all of the Invincible songs ranked.

16. You are My Life
“One of the issues with Invincible that keeps it from reaching anything better than ‘pretty good’ is the over-saturation of the new contemporary style. The genius of Thriller and Bad was its lack of filler tracks. Unfortunately, with Jackson’s latest release, it would seem he fell prey to the very hurdle that has plagued music for decades.”
15. Don’t Walk Away
“Another song that lacks energy. The song starts out slow, then picks up towards the bridge (the part of the song after the first 2 verses and choruses.), then it losses steam at the end of the song. The song can be a bit boring at times but I just love MJ’s singing voice which ultimately saves this song from the depths of boredom. The song has its good parts and its bad parts.”
14. The Lost Children
“Some might find this song corny, and slightly disturbing, but it is a good song. It has a simple melody like his other worldy ballads, ‘We Are the World’ and ‘Heal the World’. But this song has a calming effect that captivates me and makes me want to hum along to the song.”
13. Threatened
“A great song by MJ. The sound effects and MJ’s haunting vocals creates a sense of fear, and confidence in this song. MJ speaks/sings with great confidence much like his ‘Thriller’ and ‘Bad’ days. Its refreshing and a great way to end this album.”
12. Heaven Can Wait
“My favorite song on this album. It is such a beautiful song with its soul-touching lyrics. This song showcases MJ’s passion, as he puts all of his emotions into this song so beautifully. Beautiffully written an sung.”

11. Cry
“A beautifully-wriiten song reminiscent of ‘Man in the Mirror’ but it lacks the strong passion that ‘ Man in the Mirror’ has. Still, it’s a good ballad with a strong showcase of MJ’s vocals.”
10. Privacy
“It is the worst song on the album. But I still like it. This song lacks the fire and energy that MJ usually has. Its has the same message as ‘Leave Me Alone’ but not the same feel and energy. The song becomes too bland at times. A couple hee-hee’s and hoo-hoo’s would make this song alot better.”
9. Butterflies
“A strong vocal ballad in which MJ showcases his beautiful falsetto, which he sings in with such perfection and ease. Beautiful song.”
8. 2000 Watts
“I hated this song at first, but when you listen to this song with an open mind and get used to the lower vocal tone he sings in, you realize how great a song this really is. The beat of this song instantly makes me wanna dance, but the really great thing about this song is it’s simple, and catchy melody. I caught myself humming the chorus a bunch of times. The song is also very creative, as I know that I will never hear a song like this again. Only MJ could pull this off.”
7. Whatever Happens
“Another great, eclectic song by the King Of Pop. The King Of Pop takes on latin music in this song and achieves mastering it easily. The song was written very well and Carlos Santana’s guitar playing is excellent, and beautiful. It flows exceptionally well with the song. It is so interesting to hear MJ take on new musical territory. A must listen to!”

6. Speechless
“Finally a song in which MJ sings acapella! It’s something that all MJ fans have been looking forward to. Its a fresh, and surprising change. The only negative is that the song is too short, which doesn’t allow the listener to fully get into the song.”
5. Break of Dawn
“A classic r&b ballad about making love. This song is a refeshing change from the usual MJ songs. It was surprising to hear MJ sing about making love, since he doesn’t sing about it much, but it showcases that he to is human and has his “urges” just like every other man in this world!”
4. Unbreakable
“Unbreakable starts the album with a bang. With it’s strong, rhythmically driven melody, and usual MJ ad-libs, this song showcases the classic MJ with a modern twist. The Notorius B.I.G. verse is well put and flows well with the song.”
3. Heartbreaker
“One of my favorite songs on this album. With its slick rhythm, melody, and smooth vocals by MJ, it can and does, easily captivates listeners. His ad-libs at the end of the song is reminiscent to those ad-libs he does on the ‘Off the Wall’ cd, which is a bonus.”
2. Invincible
“A great song, that showcases MJ’s wide vocal range with the his extended use of his falsetto toward the end of the song. But the song sounds too similar to Heartbreaker, and Unbreakable, which takes away from its excellence.”
1. You Rock My World
“Classic MJ music. The beat of the song alone pulls you into this track. Instantly makes you want to dance. Has a very infectious groove that demands at least a bit of movement from the listener.”
