Isaac Neilson drops breakout track ‘No Affection’

Nottingham-based artist Isaac Neilson has unveiled his latest single ‘No Affection’, a genre-blending anthem born from creative pressure and last-minute inspiration. Known for his fusion of indie-rock grit and rhythmic, rap-informed delivery, Neilson continues to blur genre lines in compelling fashion.

What started as a studio afterthought quickly became the standout of his recent recording session. With no songs left that felt strong enough, and no budget remaining, Neilson pulled an old demo titled ‘A Cat Named Paul’ from the archives. Within hours, the skeletal idea was transformed into a full track, built around a haunting synth hook and gritty breakdown riff. Written and tracked in a single day, ‘No Affection’ captures the urgency of the moment, and it might just be his best work yet.

Lyrically, the track draws on the writings of Steven Pressfield, folding in raw themes of personal failure, frustration, and pushing forward despite internal resistance. With radio support already behind him from BBC 6 Music, Radio X, and BBC Introducing, and festival slots alongside Jake Bugg, Frank Turner, and The Lottery Winners, Isaac Neilson is fast becoming a defining voice of the UK’s indie underground.
