Joshua Powell returns with the ferocious new single ‘TRENCH THE GHOST’

Joshua Powell unleashes his loudest, most ferocious track yet with ‘TRENCH THE GHOST’, a blistering two-minute burst of metalcore chaos. The song sees Powell, known for his surrealist, spiritually-charged songwriting, dive headfirst into hardcore influences while embracing the cinematic world of gaming and horror fiction.

‘TRENCH THE GHOST’ blends the breakneck energy of Comeback Kid and Beartooth with the bombastic hooks of A Day to Remember and He Is Legend, forming a track that Powell describes as “small, angry, and fast.”

The song’s inspiration reaches beyond music, pulling directly from Powell’s obsession with Remedy Games’ supernatural thriller CONTROL. After stumbling upon the game in a used disc store, Powell was drawn into its eerie, labyrinthine halls, absorbing its surrealist themes and nods to Twin Peaks and House of Leaves.

“I wanted to make a soundtrack for CONTROL the way the soundtrack for Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 worked: drawing the player deeper into the world, dimensionalizing the sensuousness of the experience.”
