5. Kacey Musgraves, 2007
“As usual, Kacey Musgraves absolutely knocks it out of the park, and I love every single song on this album! Wholesome, enjoyable, relaxing, and overall a solid album. Kacey has expanded on her sound compared to previous albums, adding in slightly more orchestration and alt-rock sounds like synths, electronic drums, more reverb, etc, but her core country sounds of acoustic guitars and banjos, are still very prominent.
4. A Very Kacey Christmas, 2016
“The album kicks off with the classic, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. Yes it’s one of the most recorded Christmas songs ever, but to me it never gets boring, especially with fresh musical takes on it and that’s exactly what Kacey has done. She’s made the song her own, without ever completely abandoning the heart and soul of the song.”
3. Pageant Material, 2015
“Kacey Musgraves delivered an outstanding sophomore album in late June. Her 2015 “Pageant Material” essentially picks-up where her debut “Same Trailer Different Park” left off in 2013. Her previous effort garnered two Grammies, went Gold, and earned #28 on Rolling Stone’s Best Albums of 2013 list and I see no reason as to why her most recent effort shouldn’t receive the same level of accolades. Largely sticking with her up-close and personal graphic descriptions of hard-scrabble small town east Texas life, Musgraves delivers six tracks to which I awarded top ratings.”

2. Same Trailer Different Park, 2013
“She definitely sounds like she has some good country roots, that isn’t washed out by the new age direction, like some of the overproduced country music you hear. It’s almost like today’s country is confused on what they are. Are they country or are they hip hop. I am an old country music fan, so I am always cautious of how these new artist will sound. She has another one coming out soon, from what I hear and would also like to listen to that one as well.”
1. Golden Hour, 2018
“”Golden Hour” is the best album released in 2018. I never heard of Kacey Musgraves before this album and now I own everything she has done and think of her as one of my favorite artists. I am not much of a psychedelics taking person, but I was intrigued by the story of the songs resulting from a trip Kacey took and “Slow Burn,” one of those songs, is a standout track. So much of modern country music is so one dimensional, but what I love about this album is while it is country, it sounds so fresh and different in ways it’s hard to describe and define, but when you listen to it you know how amazing it feels. “Lonely Weekend” is my favorite song on the album, but “Oh what a world” is the most original sounding song I have heard in ages. “Space Cowboy” is the greatest breakup song ever.”
