10. Old Dog Demos, 2018

Mac DeMarco - Old Dog Demos Lyrics and Tracklist | Genius

“Probably my favorite demo of his. It’s mostly quite solid. The good stuff is really quite delicious. If you like Mac at all, then you’ll want to listen to this pronto.”

9. Salad Days Demos, 2014

Salad Days Demos | Mac DeMarco

“This release proves one more time that the gold of Mac Demarco works is in the lo-fi, warm and underproduced compilations, these demos from his 2014 album ‘Salad Days’ really shine Mac’s personality and unique style of composition that mixes Modern Lovers-like rock n’ roll and the dreamy 90s alternative music with a great sense of humour, and overall fit perfectly in his ‘slacker’ aesthetic. A great album and a must-listen for anyone who wants to get into Mac Demarco and 10s alternative rock.”

8. Some Other Ones, 2015

Some Other Ones by Mac DeMarco (EP, Jangle Pop): Reviews, Ratings, Credits, Song list - Rate Your Music

“Nice and light whilst a lil groovy with the melodies – the perfect instrumental album! You can really tell he was having some fun while making these tracks, especially on Young Coconut. Really loved the synth and casual drum combination on Special K and Don Juan, a nice down-to-earth, warm sound.”

7. Live At Russian Recording, 2013

Mac Demarco - My Kind of Woman [Live] - YouTube

“Probably peak Demarco (i haven’t listened since i had my own taste of live demarco in spring of ’14), the band can really play the songs and they take off almost at will. very few indie bands could play the covers medley like that”

6. Here Comes The Cowboy, 2019

Mac DeMarco: Here Comes the Cowboy Album Review | Pitchfork

“When I first turned on this album, I knew what I was getting into. This album was going to be somber, introspective, and very soft. This album creates a chill vibe that I imagine playing on a cloudy day. This is the most minimalistic mac has ever been, and I’m completely okay with that. The album is a good listen and it really picks up when it wants to.”

5. Rock And Roll Night Club, 2012

Mac Demarco - Rock And Roll Night Club (vinyl) : Target

“Mac’s proper debut and is his typical stuff. Nothing great but roundly enjoyable slacker lo fi indie pop/rock. I don’t like the minor “radio station” gimmick here but luckily it only pops up twice on the 12 track expanded edition. Overall, the album is good, as per usual with MDM. Nothing to get too excited about but it’s a pleasant experience.”

4. Another One, 2015

M Archives - Yuri's Records

“Great EP – probably my favorite of all time, actually. That being said, there are imperfections. For instance, “Without Me” moves a bit too frantically to be as cathartic as I think it could be. “I’ve Been Waiting For Her” also seems a bit lackadaisically written. Overall though, it’s a damn fine piece of music that reflects both Mac’s talent as a songwriter and affectionate nuance as a human being. If you enjoy anything at all from the man himself, then please – give it a listen.”

3. This Old Dog, 2017

Mac DeMarco: This Old Dog Album Review | Pitchfork

“Easily one of the best indie-pop, synth-pop, indie-folk whatever you want to call it albums of the past 10 years or just ever. Every song is incredible in its own way. Cant even count how many times I’ve listened to this over the years.”

2. 2, 2012

Mac DeMarco: 2 Album Review | Pitchfork

“One of my favorite albums in such a short time, 2 is a lazy, aloof post-punk ballad from a degenerate alcoholic. The lyrics often talk about past struggles and discontent; it’s not a pity parade or a sad experience however. The tracks deviate from bright and jangly to somber but never overly emotional. He’s a guy who likes to have fun with his music, and this just seemed like the product of a lot of fun, a lot of love and a lot of dedication to the sweet sound of the guitar. The music seems to say “don’t take things too seriously, and relax a little,” even though he is ruminating on past experiences. The music has very post-punk feel as well; many of the tracks smack of 80s influences. What hooked me was the shocking crisp sound of the guitars and the vintage feel of the music. It’s a harmonic and entrancing listen.”

1. Salad Days, 2014

Salad Days: Amazon.sg: Music

“The Mac Demarco project ‘Salad Days’ is interesting to say the least. It has got some iconic tracks (‘Chamber of Reflection with its synth-pop eighties flare and ‘Blue Boy’ with a more relaxed and emotional vibe) but also remains blurry as most of the tracks don’t really stand out. You mostly just come out of the album having three songs, at the most, resonate with you. I think the album misses its intention of narrowing down Demarco’s signature sound following his earlier projects and, instead, makes each song a carbon copy of the last one.”
