Monsta X (Korean: 몬스타엑스; stylized as MONSTA X) is a South Korean boy group formed through the reality survival program No.Mercy by Starship Entertainment. The group is currently composed of six members: Shownu, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Joohoney and I.M, with former member Wonho leaving the group in October 2019. Since debut, Monsta X has been known for their aggressive style, combining elements of hip hop, EDM and pop. This aggressive style with “tracks centred around loud, clattering, electronic instrumentals, vicious rap verses and striking vocals” has been influential across the fourth generation of K-pop. “I don’t know this group well. But it’s really beautiful. in fact, this is the first song i’ve heard from them. Like everyone, Kihyun’s vocals 1st hit my ear. he and his vocals are very impressive and beautiful. The others are also very good.”

“Even if it’s a 3 minute MV, it explains a lot, it’s about suicide, homophobia, and LGBTQ. Minhyuk and Hyungwon were in a relationship. you can see Hyungwon in the bathtub, he drowned himself because his parents couldn’t accept him being gay which made him severely depressed. But They made a potion where you can bring back the dead or heal them. Which is why you can see hyungwon hand move when him and minhyuk were holding hands in the bathtub.”

“I really like how the song isn’t about impressing the girl, so much as it is about simply protecting her. There’s one line that says he’ll be hanging on her lips and make her smile like Batman (lol) but it’s so subtly placed that it doesn’t feel like the guy helps the girl in return for her own love. So it just doesn’t feel forced to me and I think that’s a huge breath of fresh air.”
