6. Mountain Live: The Road Goes Ever On (1972)
“This is beyond all doubt the best version of nantucket sleighride ever recorded. The interplay between the musicians, and the way the piece flows from one movement to another is more than sublime. This title was almost impossible to find for many years, so now that it is I would urge everyone who has any interest at all in Mountain to get this album.”
5. Go For Your Life (1985)
“This album is Mountain’s best after the tragic death of Felix Pepparlardi. The two opening tracks “Hard Times” and “Sparks” are great. So is “Shimmy on the Dancefloor.” In fact all of the tracks are great. This is the album that is worth having in your collection. There is even a short song “A Little Bit of Insanity” which is dedicated to Felix.”
4. Twin Peaks (1974)
“The Version of Sleigh ride here is beautiful , the guitar solo sings and has a nice building structure. I don’t mean it’s a skyscraper , i mean to say it builds and has different chord progressions that move along ,and heighten in intensity , They are following what seems to be a structured improvisation , and the group works really well off of one an other tastefully.”

3. Avalanche (1974)
“This album simply did not get the attention it deserved. Although this is not any kind of `masterpiece’, it is a Very Good album and it keeps your soul rocking from beginning to end. Sadly, it is true that this is not an essential album for the music collector, but it might become essential to You once you hear it. This is well worth hearing and owning.”
2. Nantucket Sleighride (1971)
“”Nantucket Sleighride” is an amazingly great rock album. Why is that so? I think the secret lies in Felix Pappalardi technical production abilities as well as his prowess in songwriting and playing bass. Leslie West provides the counterpoint in the process, contributing wicked guitar riffs and that growling, rough vocal. Like sandpaper on a glossy surface, these two glide the sleigh over calm and stormy seas. To me, this is the most pleasing, most cohesive album Mountain ever did.”
1. Climbing! (1970)
“Climbing! is Mountain’s scorching debut and is a hard rock classic. This is the album that brought the now classic “Mississippi Queen” with its opening cowbell and Leslie West’s memorable guitar line to the world. And as great as this song is, “Never In My Life” and “Silver Paper” are two wicked and celebratory rockers that are on the same level as is their take on Jack Bruce’s “Theme From An Imaginary Western” that between Felix Pappalardi memorable vocal, West’s soaring guitar lines and Steve Knight’s organ, sounds majestic.”
