Neck Deep Songs Ranked
Neck Deep is a Welsh pop-punk band from Wrexham, Wales formed in 2012. Founded after vocalist Ben Barlow met former lead guitarist Lloyd Roberts, the pair posted a song (“What Did You Expect?”) online under the name Neck Deep. The song soon gained attention online, resulting in the addition of rhythm guitarist Matt West, drummer Dani Washington/Abasi, and bassist Fil Thorpe-Evans. They released a pair of EPs, Rain in July (2012) and A History of Bad Decisions (2013), both recorded by Barlow’s older brother, before signing with Hopeless in August 2013. By February 2020, the band added longtime collaborator and bassist Seb Barlow as an official member, plus later that month revealed an app with all sorts of multimedia regarding the announcement of their fourth album, titled All Distortions Are Intentional, released July 24. Here are all of Neck Deep songs ranked.

15. Blank Pages (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“An emotionally charged song with an absolutely brilliant riff. The type of song that will end with you hitting the replay button. If you have not yet heard this you are missing out.”
14. 19 Seventy Sumthin’ (The Peace and the Panic, 2017)
“In this new era of pop/punk a few bands sound as good as Neck Deep and this album proves it. There are a lot of bangers here leaving no room for fillers. “
13. Growing Pains (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“Growing Pains is about falling in love when you’re still in high school. Not really much to it, just him promising he’ll be with her through all the bullshit life throws at them.”
12. Lime St. (Life’s Not Out to Get You, 2015)
“Pop punk doesn’t really get the best reputation. The scene is pretty characteristic with its antics and issues, and the music itself is honestly really easy to just fall into schematics, in many cases inheriting the worst aspects of both pop and punk music.”

11. Damsel In Distress (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“After literally just playing this song for the first time, I can say that it was the most orgasmic I have ever felt from listening to music. This group is brilliant, and this song provides a glimpse of divine energy. “
10. December (Life’s Not Out to Get You, 2015)
“I think this song is really displaying the major theme of acceptance and moving on. The central conflict regarding two individuals who used to belong in each other’s lives are now strangers and one of them refuses to let go of the past and the memories. The lyric, “I am the last thing you remember” is concerning the reality that one has chosen to move on and let go of anything that used to be, while the other (male) is stuck in one state of mind. His refusal to accept his present, in fact enhances his need to return. His lack of acceptance towards moving past memories, leaves him to feel empty and lonely in December.”
9. Crushing Grief (No Remedy) (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“This is just a great song in general. I love the message and it has a lot of meaning to me. I can never stop singing along to this song, as it has some of my favorite vocals. “
8. Zoltar Speaks (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“Amazing drums, catchy chorus, easy listening and very addictive. But I understand why this isn’t well loved. It sounds different compared to the other songs but I like this best somehow”
7. In Bloom (The Peace and the Panic, 2017)
“Actually the most amazing song I have ever heard, excellent lyrics, very passionate. Very upbeat and lovely song. Definitely my favorite”
6. Kali Ma (Life’s Not Out to Get You, 2015)
“This isn’t a song. This is a damn anthem. It’s one of the best songs of the last 5 years. And it’s got the album name in it’s lyrics and I love that. Absolutely mesmerizing and utterly beautiful music.”

5. Candour (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“This is literally my favorite song of all time. Everything about it is perfect, his voice, the instruments together. It has a spacey, atmospheric feel to it but the lyrics are really pretty and simple.”
4. A Part of Me (Rain in July / A History of Bad Decisions, 2014)
“I think that this song is the story of a boy who thought that he had a really strong emotional connection with a girl. She’s super confident and knows exactly what she’s doing, and puts him in his place, and leaves a mark on him. He just wants to protect her but she’s not like that so she ends up pushing him away. she’s okay with hu once in a while but doesn’t want anything more than that. He’s super hurt by it and doesn’t want to become dressed again from it.”
3. Can’t Kick Up the Roots (Life’s Not Out to Get You, 2015)
“This is what may possibly be the next “All The Small Things”. Neck Deep have grown a lot, and this song is helping them make their name. If you need one and song to listen to start with, this is the one.”
2. Gold Steps (Life’s Not Out to Get You, 2015)
“One of my all time favorites! I don’t know what is about this song, but it gets me every time! Whether I listen to it live or recorded on the cd. It doesn’t matter, it’s a classic!”
1. Losing Teeth (Wishful Thinking, 2014)
“This song finds vocalist Ben Barlow and his pals thinking about their futures. He explained to Kerrang!: “‘Losing Teeth’ is about how I and my friends back home are all in a phase of life where we’re moving and generally pursuing things that take us away from where we all grew up. It’s not about the end of our youth, as such, but definitely, the end of us being kids, and reflecting on that.”
