Not Richard & Her Majesty unveil chaotic, cathartic debut EP ‘Not Hot’ — watch ‘Everything Explodes’ video now
Brighton outfit Not Richard & Her Majesty have released their debut EP ‘Not Hot’, a twisted, genre-warping collection that fuses 60s pop with confessional chaos. Fronted by Richard, a musical veteran of ten bands, five breakups, and two breakdowns, the EP reads like a scorched diary of personal implosion.
“This project is a diary of personal, professional, sexual, financial & gender ruin,” says Richard. “If you enjoy violent oversharing set to a disparate overture of 60s sunshine pop… THIS is the band you’ve been waiting for.”
The lead single ‘Everything Explodes’ arrives with an unsettling video built from real footage of Richard’s parents’ wedding. “It was deeply uncomfortable to watch,” he admits. “But it felt weirdly perfect — the joy in those images completely contradicts the way I know that story ends.”
Produced by Jamie Hall of Tigercub, the EP is described as “nostalgic, cathartic, and dark — like The Shangri-Las covering The Birthday Party.”
