O’Laochra take on consumer culture with fiery new single ‘Can I Have It?’
Irish-born, NYC-based artist O’Laochra returns with ‘Can I Have It?’, a blistering new punk anthem that channels existential angst through fuzzed-out guitars and relentless energy. Fusing punk’s bite with Irish musical instincts and pop-savvy hooks, the single takes aim at material obsession, impulse culture, and the blurred lines between need and want.
Driven by a punchy guitar riff and pounding rhythm section, the track captures the spiralling inner monologue of a protagonist caught in the loop of desire. Light organ flourishes add irony to the existential question: what is “it”? By the final chorus, the crash of drums and distorted chords deliver the cold truth, our wants are often habits in disguise.
Billed as “punk music if it grew up and got a desk job,” O’Laochra is the creation of Michael Leahy, an artist using rage, wit, and melody as a vehicle for change in a fractured modern world.
