ooluu unveil ‘Altar’, a genre-bending descent into melodic chaos

Ottawa metal experimentalists ooluu return with ‘Altar’, a dark and dynamic fusion of shoegaze textures and thunderous metal choruses. Dreamlike verses dissolve into walls of distortion, pulling influence from Deftones, Pantera, and Greg Puciato.

Marking a departure from 2021’s aggressive BREAK EP, ‘Altar’ leans into a more melodic, atmospheric sound, laying the groundwork for their next album, ICONOGRAPHY.

Also out is a wild remix from cybergrind disruptor Fire Manic, transforming the track into a jungle-flecked club freakout, complete with its own psychedelic video. Together, the two versions showcase ooluu’s fearless evolution; unpredictable, unrelenting, and unafraid to burn the past to build the future.
