Orbital Songs Ranked
Orbital are an English electronic dance music duo from Sevenoaks, Kent, England, consisting of brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll. The band’s name is taken from Greater London’s orbital motorway, the M25, which was central to the early rave scene and party network in the southeast during the early days of acid house. In addition, the cover art on three of their albums shows stylized atomic orbitals. Orbital has been both critically and commercially successful and known particularly for its element of live improvisation during shows. They were initially influenced by early electro and punk rock. Orbital’s main creative period was from 1989 to 2004. They have since reunited twice in the 2010s, producing new albums each time. Here are all of Orbital’s songs ranked.

13. Nothing Left (The Middle of Nowhere, 1999)
“This music is trance, but at a higher level of creativity and musicianship than most of it’s kind. It will keep you listening to inner detail and enjoying the grooves while feeling the shapes of larger compositions. Very cool.”
12. Where is It Going (Wonky, 2012)
“This song has amazing vocals and a really catchy rap. Just amazing and beautiful. This is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. Great production, singing, and vibes”
11. Adnans (In Sides, 1995)
“This song hits hard because all of the things that happened in this world it’s hard and sad and I just want to forget everything. It reminds to forget the bad things and going to the good things.”
10. Science Friction (Snivilisation, 1994)
“This song makes me wanna walk into a city a night full of lights and feeling the air in my face without a worry in life. Best Orbital song by far… no matter how many times I listen to it. Sends chills down my spine every time.”

9. Transient (Blue Album, 2004)
“The beat is excellent, and the lyrics are touching, as usual. What more could you ask for when your artist is Orbital? All of his songs are great, so this is a hard question.”
8. Beached (The Beach, 2000)
“Boracay beach circa mid 201X, can’t even remember exactly when at this point. Tropical birds shrieking. Longanisa and rice breakfast. Mango smoothies in water bottles. Walking along the subtle shoreline to a rocky outcrop far along the shore. Wading around in schools of tropical fish I find a staircase. Climbing the unsteady steps I find myself among a grotto for the Virgin Mary, out in the ocean on an unfamiliar beach.”
7. Out There Somewhere (In Sides, 1996)
“I can’t say how great this track is. The longest Orbital track and every second of it is gold. It almost seems unfair to have a song this amazing because it just makes everything else look bad.”
6. Belfast (Orbital, 1991)
““This is just one of those songs you can never get bored of hearing, whether it be on the radio or in a nightclub. It really suits their style and brings something new to the table, I love it!”

5. New France (New France, 2012)
“One of his best songs… not just the song is so perfect (at most the drop) it was a new way of style he established with this song in the scene and his own productions… this song means so much to his career, his fans and the electro scene…”
4. The Girl With the Sun In Her Head (In Sides, 1996)
“This is another example of his greatness. I love lyrics and this one does not disappoint. A pounding Beat. Great to listen to or dance to with someone. Set the mood, set the tone.”
3. Speed Freak (Orbital, 1991)
“I love it… it’s both beautiful and fast-paced/intense at the same time. Like the best of trance and house. Yes, this is a classic song. The songs they get hooked up with are dope.”
2. One Perfect Sunrise (One Perfect Day, 2004)
“Both remixes start out slow and sort of off course, but that’s the way the remixes go. Once you get past the drop, the song picks up on both and you want to dance and move.”
1. Halcyon and On and On (Orbital 2, 1992)
“What an amazing track! Heard it a couple of minutes ago and still can’t get it out of my mind! AMAZING! I can’t say how much I love this song! It’s brilliant! No one can write music like Orbital.”
