PHWOAR deliver first single from upcoming EP, ‘Waiting for the Sun’

Brummie alt-indie rock duo PHWOAR are back with their reflective and hopeful new single ‘Waiting for the Sun’. The track is the first taste of their forthcoming EP ‘Flowers Through The Concrete’, set to release on the 11th April.

‘Waiting for the Sun’ is an emotive anthem about resilience, hope, and finding strength in dark places. Released on Blue Monday—coined as the most depressing day of the year—it’s a powerful reminder that mental health is not a marketing ploy but a serious reality. The song pushes back against the commodification of mental health while offering a message of solidarity: no matter how low life feels, light always follows darkness.

“The song is about hope as rebellion,” the band shares. “It’s for anyone going through a rough patch—reminding them that even when it feels like you’re stuck in the shadows, the sun will rise again.”

With Blue Monday coinciding with the US Presidential Inauguration Day, PHWOAR’s message of perseverance and optimism feels especially timely, underscoring that collective and personal struggles alike require resilience and faith in brighter days ahead.
