Pit Pony release their sophomore album ‘Dead Stars’, featuring new single ‘At Dawn’
Newcastle’s Pit Pony return with their highly anticipated second album ‘Dead Stars’. A powerful collision of raw garage rock, punk energy, and evocative storytelling, ‘Dead Stars’ showcases the band’s distinctive ability to balance intensity with vulnerability, as frontwoman Jackie Purver delivers uncompromisingly honest lyricism against a backdrop of electrifying riffs and unrelenting rhythms.
So far, Pit Pony have teased the record with critically acclaimed singles ‘Vacancy,’ ‘Well Well,’ and ‘Cut Open,’ receiving support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, Under The Radar, Louder Than War, and NARC. To celebrate the album’s release, the band has also unveiled a brand-new video for focus track ‘At Dawn’, a punchy and stark reminder of time’s ability to heal wounds and the strength found in hindsight.
Jackie Purver on “At Dawn”
”‘At Dawn’ is a reference to personal experience—it’s a storytelling song about being young and caught up in things you think will last forever, only to realize they were fleeting. I actually wrote it to look back on something I was resentful about for a while and to make peace with it from a more mature viewpoint. Everything shapes us as we go.”
“The title itself is a nod to my favorite film, Rebel Without A Cause, where Plato (Sal Mineo) asks Jim (James Dean) whether he thinks the world will end at nighttime, and he responds, ‘Nuh uh, at dawn.’”
