Pit Pony share driven new single ‘Vacancy’ ahead of sophomore album ‘Dead Stars’

Newcastle-based band Pit Pony have released their brand-new single ‘Vacancy’ via Clue Records and EMI North. The track offers a biting critique of social media culture, taking aim at the endless stream of life hacks, influencer trends, and the emptiness they often leave in their wake.

Vocalist Jackie Purver explains the inspiration behind the track, “Vacancy is about being dumbfounded by the modern world and social media. My feed is full of videos telling me my life will be better if I buy leggings or try some ‘off-menu’ Starbucks drink. It feels like we’re spiraling into a black hole—a vacancy—like a mass Dorian Gray painting.

“There’s a whole culture of manicured aspirations, from coffee selfies in carparks to endless products pushed by influencers. The song captures the frustration of aspiring to these ideals, spiralling into a cry of frustration at the world. I want to derail it, make it messy—no more manicures over BMW steering wheels.”
