Pollinator Songs Ranked
Pollinator is the eleventh studio album by the American rock band Blondie, released on May 5, 2017 by BMG Rights Management The album returns to a more band-oriented sound following the group’s experimentation with electronic music for their previous release Ghosts of Download. Many of the songs on the album were collaborations written by outside writers, including songs written by TV on the Radio’s David Sitek, Johnny Marr, Sia, Nick Valensi from The Strokes, Charli XCX, Canadian YouTube personality Adam Johnston of YourMovieSucks (who records music under the name An Unkindness), and Dev Hynes. Five of the album’s tracks were written or co-written by Blondie band members, with two songs written by Debbie Harry and Chris Stein (Harry also co-wrote one track with Hynes) and another two were written by Blondie keyboardist Matt Katz-Bohen with his wife Laurel. Lead guitarist Chris Stein stated in an interview with Mojo, “We thought to ask people because there’s so much good music swirling about”, rather than it being a result of running thin on ideas. “We sorted the contributors ourselves, or someone would send us a bunch of songs and we’d pick one” he continued, explaining that Blondie and producer John Congleton had curated the submissions. Here are all of Pollinator’s songs ranked.

11. Doom or Destiny
“Opener “Doom or Destiny” makes this intention known via punky power pop complete with a guest appearance by Joan Jett, and several spirited pop-rock workouts ensue.”
10. Already Naked
“The breezy “Already Naked” is a dreamy Blondie hit in the making. But they all feel like Blondie in concept and execution. And their name alone name deserves a pause of reflection and reverence for all they’ve gone through and all they’ve accomplished in the world of music and pop culture to sound and look this fantastic over forty years later.”
9. My Monster
“Blondie’s comeback still feels new to me, but by the time of this album they had been back on the scene as long as they had been gone before the comeback. And the comeback has lasted twice as long as the band’s original run.”

8. Gravity
“Debbie Harry and Chris Stein never cease to impress me. This album is cohesive, and still has that sexy, and quirky factor, which has made me a Blondie fan since the seventies!”
7. Love Level
“Love Level is a New Orleans/well horns- styled hip hop/rock combo. Truly an amazing track with vocals by John Roberts and that has not happened on a Blondie album since I Know But I Don’t Know. “
6. Fragments
“The cd has the INSANELY moody and great Tonight as a hidden track. That runs after a minute of blank space at the end of Fragments. truly a companion piece for Fragments. Killer emotional vocals.”
5. Too Much
“For the first time in decades, Blondie rein in their penchant for excess and experimentation to create a tight, rock-oriented collection of songs–and they do it by mixing tracks submitted by other artists with self-penned material.”

4. When I Gave Up on You
“Another song I like is “When I Gave Up On You”. This is a beautiful break up song. Debbie Harry is the heart of Blondie’s success. She still has the vocal talent to rock and deliver all these songs with skill.”
3. Best Day Ever
“Best Day Ever is a Sia Nick Valensi (The Strokes) written gem. It just sounds like a commercial – all upbeat and funny. Not something Debbie would have written herself but works.”
2. Fun
“Fun- a gem of a number one club play Billboard track. Truly amazing in the original and remix forms.I like the remix of their initial song release, “Fun”, better than the ‘album’ version, but it has grown on me.”
1. Long Time
“Truly one of the best tracks that Debbie has had for a long time. Wistful and longing in music and vocals. This is a huge seller in the UK and the Triple A Billboard chart. This song is about the illusion of happiness and the search for love.”
