Pretty Rude preview their debut album with the anthemic new single ‘Debbie & Lynn’
Brooklyn-based indie rock band Pretty Rude have officially signed with SideOneDummy Records, gearing up for the release of their highly anticipated debut album, arriving this May. Produced by the band and mixed by Jake Sinclair(Weezer’s White Album) and Zach Weeks at God City, the record promises a bold, energetic sound that cements Pretty Rude as a rising force in indie-rock.
To celebrate the news, the band has unveiled their brand-new single ‘Debbie & Lynn’, accompanied by a striking official music video shot and edited by Luke LeCount. Drawing inspiration from Billy Collins’ poem Traveling Alone, ‘Debbie & Lynn’ is a meditation on the weight of personal baggage, the struggle to move forward, and the cyclical nature of self-destructive tendencies. Frontman James Palko shares:
“‘Debbie & Lynn’ are two flight attendants I pulled from Traveling Alone and tried to give new life to. The song itself is about trying to move on, but realizing you carry all your past with you—there’s ‘No Vacation’ from yourself. If you’re not careful, you can find yourself falling back into old habits. And just like Collins only guesses at the lives of his characters, in the song, another passenger on the plane turns to Debbie & Lynn for help, hoping to right this plane—or his life—before it spirals.”
