REVIEW: Belle & The Vertigo Waves – ‘(Re)Aligned’

Back in 2017, Belle & The Vertigo Waves released their breakthrough debut album ‘Aligned’. Originally just a fledgling solo project for their lead singer Belle, the outfit has grown in both size and ambition in the years since, becoming one of the more exciting names on the underground scene right now. But with those songs still very much a feature of their legacy to date, they have now looked to rerecord them with their current line-up, resulting in ‘(Re)Aligned’, an EP that rekindles that same anthemic magic they have been cultivating lately.

Exploring a much harder and more intense aesthetic for these new renditions, ‘(Re)Aligned’ explodes out of the gates with that same tenacity many love them for. Opening up with the previously unreleased instrumental offering ‘Annie’s Theme’, this new single certainly gives us a strong taste of what to expect here. From there, we are treated to flurry of eruptive guitar hooks and driven textures that perfectly elevate the band’s more ferocious and adventurous spirit they have harnessed lately.

While a very different release from its predecessor, ‘(Re)Aligned’ still showcases plenty of fresh and emotive innovation within their sound. Brimming with these bold and enigmatic ideas from start to finish, they are continuing their explorative nature with style and aplomb here.
