REVIEW: Changing Tymz – ‘Finish The Race’
Ever since they first broke through with their stunning debut single ‘Shark Attack’ in 2022, Pittsburgh’s Changing Tymz have always looked to evoke a more progressive approach to the classic rock sound. Taking cues from those riveting anthems of the 1970s and 80s, and rebranding them for a modern ear, the band’s tenure has been filled with bold and powerful releases ever since. And with the buzz around them continuing to build, they look to cement their dynamic legacy to date with their eagerly-awaited debut album ‘Finish The Race’, a record that spreads their creative wings throughout.
Much like what we have heard from them already, ‘Finish The Race’ looks to deliver a fresh and explosive array of alt-rock belters. Blending raw and driven hooks with these truly euphoric choruses as often as possible, this new thirteen-track collection establishes them as one of the more exciting names on the rise today. With tracks like ‘Beyond The Realm’ and ‘Changing Times’ giving the album a heady burst of energy from time to time, the result is this wildly diverse and enigmatic introduction to their dynamic direction to date.
While it may be their only full-length so far, ‘Finish The Race’ showcases some wildly adventurous ideas from beginning to end. Approaching this release as if they were a band with many more years under their belt, Changing Tymz are certainly a name worth keeping a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
