REVIEW: Coma Beach – ‘A Madman’s Dream/Mind Descending’
Over these last few years, German outfit Coma Beach have been one of the more exhilarating names emerging on the European rock scene. Taking their cues from the classic punk sound of the 1970s and rebranding it for a modern ear, the band’s tenure to date has been this bold and explorative run of releases that always look to build on what has come before. And after firing out a flurry of impactful efforts these last few months, they are back once again to deliver their anthemic new EP ‘A Madman’s Dream/Mind Descending’, a release that establishes more of that raucous nature they are quickly earning a reputation for.
Exploring more of that raw and gritty texture they have been cultivating recently, ‘A Madman’s Dream/Mind Descending’ makes for a fresh and explosive addition to their ever-growing repertoire of late. Keeping the energy high and the hooks soaring even higher, this new five-track collection makes for an incredibly rich and passionate listen. Bringing back some of those killer guitar riffs their output has been flooded with recently, they are certainly looking to keep our fists pumping with this one.
These last few months have certainly been a great time for innovation and self-discovery for them, but ‘A Madman’s Dream/Mind Descending’ feels like a strong and commanding step forward within their evolution to date. Making for a powerful and inviting listen throughout, Coma Beach continue to surprise and intrigue with this one.
