REVIEW: Dozenz – ‘Be Someone’
Over these last few years, electro-rock outfit Dozenz have set themselves up as one of the more eclectic names doing the rounds. While very much focused around anthemic, rock-laden textures within their work, they regularly tend to invite a varied array of outside inspirations into their sound, creating this wildly unpredictable experience with everything they produce. And with a flurry of impactful offerings under their belts in recent months, they are now looking to cement this era within their direction with ‘Be Someone’, a record that pushes their adventurous spirit further than ever.
Much in line with the reputation they have garnered up until now, ‘Be Someone’ makes for an extremely prolific listen straight from the off. All held together by this bold and euphoric production across all ten-tracks, the band look to take cues from synth-pop, post-punk, and industrial-rock to capture their aura on this release. Whether they are looking to unleash an uplifting demeanour with ‘Lie To Love You’ or adopt a more guitar-driven vibe on ‘Daylight’, Dozenz always keep you on your toes as to where this release will head next.
These last few months have certainly been a great time for innovation and self-discovery, but ‘Be Someone’ could end up going down as their most impactful outing to date. With such a wondrous approach to their songwriting at every turn, they are definitely ones to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
