REVIEW: Echoes Of Janus – ‘Psychotic Episodes’
Over these last few months, emerging artist Warren Bullock’s Echoes Of Janus project has been busy crafting a distinctive direction in which to call their own. Adding a fresh and swaggering twist on the classic rock aesthetic, the band have quickly managed to hone a bright and inventive approach to the genre, something that still manages to fit in with a contemporary crowd. And with plenty of innovation and self-discovery under their belts lately, they are now breaking onto the scene with their stellar debut album ‘Psychotic Episodes’, a record that brings all of those riveting textures under one roof.
As a band that clearly wear their influences on their sleeves, ‘Psychotic Episodes’ still manages to create this wildly fun and progressive feel as it plays. Unleashing this bold and enigmatic pursuit across all nine tracks, this initial outing has an incredibly enjoyable flow running through it, coupled with an anthemic approach to its songwriting and production. Whether they look to deliver a riveting array of rip-roaring guitar hooks or explore a more folk-tinged direction, Echoes Of Janus keep their heads firmly above the surface and deliver a varied yet cohesive listen here.
It may be their only piece of material to date, but ‘Psychotic Episodes’ makes for a vibrant introduction to their sound so far. Brimming with an inviting warmth from beginning to end, they are certainly a name we need to keep a firm eye on for the months ahead as well.
