REVIEW: flora cash – ‘behind every beautiful thing’

Over this past decade, Swedish-American duo flora cash have carved out a distinctive direction for themselves on the underground music scene. Taking their cues from alt-pop sensibilities and merging them with a more haunted and progressive edge as often as possible, their tenure to date has been this wildly explorative one that broadens their creative spirits with every new release. And after returning with an almighty wave of dynamic delights earlier this year, they are now back once again to deliver their hotly-tipped fourth studio album ‘behind every beautiful thing’, a record that continues that innovative spirit of theirs.

Much like what their frenzy of previously shared anthems showcased, ‘behind every beautiful thing’ continues that rich and enigmatic direction they have been cultivating since their earliest beginnings. Creating this incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere that tends to swap between dark and light instrumentation, their newest endeavour finds them in a wonderfully explorative guise as it plays. With both members taking turns over lead vocal duties across the length of this new release, flora cash are reemerging with one of their more diverse and compelling efforts to date here.

These last few years have certainly been an adventurous time for them, but ‘behind every beautiful thing’ shows there is still plenty of fresh and exciting innovation coursing through them right now. Offering up some truly spellbinding odes as it plays, flora cash remain on top of their creative game with this one.
